Have Blog's Had Their Day?

It's been a little while since I posted on here and I apologise for that. I don't know whether I lost my blog mojo, whether my current slightly hectic life made me put it to one side or whether it was the fact that I was begrudgingly beginning to accept that maybe blog's just aren't what they used to be. It's a bit of a tricky time for blogs in my opinion. It's no secret that us bloggers have all been wondering whether old school blogs, like this, have had their day.

Whilst we all complain about Instagram and the algorithm and how tough it is on there right now, the reality is that Instagram is where it's at at the moment. It's current, it's fast paced, it's easily accessible and to be quite honest, it's all around easier. Not that I'm saying that what we do as influencers is easy, because believe me, it's not. But the difference between getting your camera out, going and shooting a full outfit post, uploading and editing 17 photos and then writing content compared with snapping a quick Instagram photo, writing a snappy caption and posting there and then is vast. And when you start to realise (and see many twitter comments in agreement) that iPhone photos tend to perform a lot better than camera photos, you do start to wonder what the point is.

I did a little poll not long ago and it was somewhat 50/50 as to whether people still read blogs, to my surprise, maybe slightly more weighing towards 'Instagram only' votes. And it has made me wonder whether all the effort that goes into these posts is worth it. I've also noticed a hell of a lot of branded content requests coming through as Instagram only these days, compared to this time last year, which really says something to me.

For me, I love Instagram images. I can take and edit and post on the go, my content is always relevant to what I am doing or where I am and I don't have to lug a camera around. I have been posting a lot more on Instagram these days and enjoying my content a lot more, which to me is pretty important. But that being said, sometimes I feel the need to come on here and write or rant a little. Or to show you guys some more outfit details because lets be honest, that's why I started this blog in the first place, to show you my outfits. So, whilst keeping my Instagram up to date daily, a little blog post here and there will still be a priority for me and I will be doing my best to do it more often, even if it's just for me.
